What is a customer prefix?
A customer prefix is a 3 letter lower case alphanumeric ([0-9a-z]) string that is prefixed on to variables with the purpose of creating the effect of a name space. Name spaces make it possible to discriminate between different customer's variables having the same name.
When do I need a customer prefix?
Some features requires customer prefix. Examples are use of taxonomies, fielded search and external DMP data uploads. The table found at this page gives several use case examples.
What happen if I use the same customer prefix across various of my site groups?
Site groups sharing a customer prefix thus also share a name space. Any data that required a customer prefix will now be shared across the site groups.
How do I obtain my customer prefix?
Contact Cxense support or your Cxense onboarder and they will assign you a prefix.
