User Roles

Overview

There are several default User Roles in cX::ad. Here is a brief summary of their intended scope.

Current Roles

Advertiser Account Manager

This user is the main day-to-day user of an advertising agency. They manage their client's campaigns - usually within a discrete folder with associated billing account (an 'Advertising Account') They may also manage campaigns using a 'general' billing account as well. This allows the Agencies clients to pay the Agency directly rather than provide their billing details to be used within cx::ad. This User role can invite users.

They can:

  • Invite users and assign the following roles:

    • Advertiser Account Manager

    • Advertising Analyst

    • Full Service Advertiser

    • Self Service Advertiser

  • Manage accounts they have access to

  • Create/Update/Delete: Campaigns, Ads, Manage Budgets

  • Create/Update: Billing Accounts (Prepay and Postpay)

  • Import/Export Campaigns

  • View Advertising Performance Report

They cannot:

  • Do anything in the publishing or product side of functionality

  • Create new users in the system

Advertiser Helpdesk

This is an admin type role that has the 'temporary folder access' permission. These users are employed by the broker to help the advertisers if they are having trouble with a process such as 'my campaign won't publish' etc.

They can:

  • Invite, Create, and manage users and assign the following roles to them:

    • Agency User

    • Advertising Analyst

    • Full Service Advertiser

    • Self Service Advertiser

  • User masquerading

  • View Products, Blocked Keywords, Blocked URL's that sit at their home location (usually the broker's location)

  • Manage accounts they have access to

  • Create/Update/Delete: Campaigns, Ads, Manage Budgets

  • Create/Update Billing Accounts(Prepay only)

  • Import/Export Campaigns

  • View Advertising Performance Report

  • Edit the minimum balance for an account

  • View transaction information and payment information

They cannot:

  • Do anything with the publishing functionality

  • Make payments

Advertising Analyst

This is a role whose only real ability is to access advertising reports.

They can:

  • Invite users and assign the following roles:

    • Advertising Analyst

  • View Advertising Performance Report

They cannot:

  • Access any inventory

  • Make payments

Invite only role

Users can be created (see Create User) with this role only if a role that grants them the ability to create inventory in the system is also chosen.

Agency User

A standard user of an agency.

To create a new Agency (User), The broker must add either 'Advertiser account manager' or 'Publisher Account Manager'. This additional selection applies the type of Agency being created - Advertising or Publishing.

They can:

  • Gains access to System Advertising Performance(SAPr) & System Publishing Performance (SPPr).

  • Gains Create User Capability

  • Loses ability to 'Advertise' (loses all reference to publishing or advertising)

  • Gains access to:

    • Manage Users

    • Disable Sub User(i.e. Users that were created by the agency - could be either or both Advertisers & Publishers) accounts (Stop them logging in)

    • Temp folder access of 'sub accounts'

    • Change User Details / reset passwords / ...

    • Finance Account Management - Ability to

    • View All finance accounts for All 'Sub Users'

    • Manage Tax Settings for Sub Users

    • NO Credit / Debit the the Sub User Finance Accounts

    • Disable the sub User Finance Accounts

    • Set Pre/ Post pay

    • Set min balance

    • View transaction history of Sub User Accounts

  • Role Allocation - Agency users can grant:

    • Advertiser account manager

    • Publisher Account Manager

    • Full Service Ad / Pub

    • Self Service Ad / Pub

    • Agency

They cannot:

  • Product Creation

  • Blocked Keywords nor URLS

  • Editorial Control

Business Analyst

Users with this role can view all reports in the system.

They can:

  • Invite users and assign the following roles:

    • Business Analyst

  • View all reports available in the system, including the system advertising performance report and the system publishing performance report.

They cannot:

  • Change any data in the system.

Invite only role

Users can be created (see Create User) with this role only if a role that grants them the ability to create inventory in the system is also chosen.

Business Owner

They can:

  • Invite users and assign the following roles:

    • Business Owner

  • Manage Finance accounts they have access to including:

    • Edit status

    • Edit minimum balance

  • Create Blocked keywords and URLs

  • Create/Update/Delete: Products

  • Update: Billing Accounts (Prepay and Postpay) and Earning Accounts

  • View transaction information and payment information

  • Make adjustments on Advertiser Finance Accounts

  • View System Advertising/Publishing Performance Reports

  • Set Campaign Priority

They cannot:

  • Do anything in the publishing or advertising side of functionality

  • Create new users in the system

  • View standard Advertising/Publishing Performance Reports

Full-Service Advertiser

This role is assigned to users who are going to be viewing items, but can't really create/update them. The typical use-case is for an agency to invite Full service users to be able to log in and view their campaigns/ads etc to see how they are performing, but not be able to modify anything.

They can:

  • Invite users and assign the following roles:

    • Full Service Advertiser

  • View: Campaigns, Ads, Billing Accounts, Transaction history

  • View Advertising Performance Report

They cannot:

  • Do anything in the publishing or product side of functionality

  • Create most things. They are effectively a read-only user.

Invite only role

Users can be created (see Create User) with this role only if a role that grants them the ability to create inventory in the system is also chosen.

Full-Service Publisher

this is the other side of the read-only coin. Typically agencies who manage publishing inventory will invite site owners as this role to be able to view how their site is performing but not be able to modify any settings.

They can:

  • Invite users and assign the following roles:

    • Full Service Publisher

  • View: Earning Accounts, Transaction history, AdSpaces

  • View Publishing Performance Report

They cannot:

  • Do anything in the advertising or product side of functionality

  • Create most things. They are effectively a read-only user

Invite only role

Users can be created (see Create User) with this role only if a role that grants them the ability to create inventory in the system is also chosen.

Publisher Account Manager

This user is the main day-to-day user of an publishing agency/group. They manage their client's websites, AdSpaces, and/or media. This User role can invite users.

They can:

  • Invite users and assign the following roles:

    • Full Service Publisher

    • Self Service Publisher

  • Manage accounts they have access to including:

    • Edit status

  • Create/Update/Delete AdSpaces

  • Create/Update Earning Accounts

  • View Publishing Performance Reports

  • View transaction information

They cannot:

  • Do anything in the advertising or product side of functionality

  • Create new users in the system

  • View any Advertising/System Performance Reports

Self-Service Advertiser

This User can create campaigns against a single pre-pay finance account. This is one of the default roles granted to Users who sign up via sign up page.

They can:

  • Invite users and assign the following roles:

    • Self Service Advertiser

  • Create/Update/Delete: Campaigns, Ads, Manage Budgets

  • Create/Update Billing Accounts (Pre-pay only)

  • View Advertising Performance Reports

  • View transaction information and make payments

  • Import/Export Campaigns

They cannot:

  • Do anything in the publishing or product side of functionality

  • Create new users in the system

  • View any Publishing/System Performance Reports

Self-Service Publisher

This User can create AdSpaces against a single finance account. This is one of the default roles granted to Users who sign up via sign up page.

They can:

  • Invite users and assign the following roles:

    • Self Service Publisher

  • Create/Update/Delete AdSpaces

  • Create/Update Earning Accounts

  • View Publishing Performance Reports

  • View transaction information

They cannot:

  • Do anything in the publishing or product side of functionality

  • Create new users in the system

  • View any Advertising/System Performance Reports

System Administrator

A manager user who 'administrates the system'. They can Create, Edit, Update Users, Products, set available targeting criteria for product allocation etc.

They can:

  • Invite, Create and manage users and assign the following roles:

    • Advertiser Account Manager

    • Advertiser Helpdesk

    • Agency User

    • Business Analyst

    • Business Owner

    • Full Service Advertiser

    • Full Service Publisher

    • Publisher Account Manager

    • Self Service Advertiser

    • Self Service Publisher

    • System Administrator

They cannot:

  • Do anything in the publishing, advertising or product side of functionality

  • Masquerade as another user
