Key Information

Supported Platforms

Ad Performance currently supports the following ad platforms:

  • Google Ads

  • Meta Ads (Facebook Ads)

It does not support:

  • Search Ads 360 (SA360). SA360 is a separate Google product and cannot be connected via Ad Performance.

  • URLs shortened by third-party URL shorteners (e.g., bit.ly). Shorteners strip the supplementary UTM parameters that Ad Performance depends on. Use the ad platform's native tracking template instead.

Tagging prerequisites

To use Ad Performance, your site must be on:

  • Piano Analytics SDK version 6.0 or higher, or

  • Legacy SmartTag version 5.29.4 or higher for sites that have not yet migrated to the Piano Analytics SDK.

Sites on older tagging cannot connect to Ad Performance until they upgrade.

In addition, your campaign URLs must include the supplementary UTM parameters that Ad Performance reads (utm_cid, utm_agid, utm_adid, utm_platform — see the dedicated UTM parameters article for the exact list and ad-platform tracking-template syntax).

Data ingestion cadence

Ad-platform cost and performance data is imported into Piano Analytics once per day, with a one-day delay (D+1). Yesterday's ad spend appears in Ad Performance the following day. Data is not available in real time.
