General Rule
The use of a cookie consent banner is generally necessary if you use Piano services. Piano products use cookies and trackers that fall under privacy regulations such as the GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive, which require informed user consent for processing personal data and placing non-essential cookies.
Consent Exemption
However, Piano Analytics offers a consent exemption configuration that may allow you to collect audience measurement data without requiring explicit user consent, under specific conditions. This exemption originates from Article 5.3 of the European ePrivacy Directive and has been recognized by multiple European data protection authorities. However, even under the exemption, the CNIL recommends providing an opposition/opt-out mechanism for exempted trackers (e.g., in your privacy policy or cookies page).
