There are five different types of templates:

Offer templates are used to present offers to your visitors. Simple templates are set up just like offer templates but don't contain an offer — just a message. Landing pages are offer or simple templates modified to serve as a landing page, generally devoted to a particular offer, promotion or marketing message. System templates are used to express key system functions consistently. Notification templates are used to email messages to visitors following transactional events.
