Other browser groups visits from browsers that Piano Analytics can't identify. Piano Analytics determines the browser from the User-Agent and the Client Hints collected during the visit, and compares them with a device detection partner. If the partner doesn't recognize the User-Agent or the Client Hints, the visit is categorized as Other browser.
For more on Client Hints, see Client Hints (User Agent deprecation).
Common causes
|
Cause |
Example |
|---|---|
|
A new browser the partner doesn't know yet |
A recently launched browser, such as a new AI browser. Once the partner adds its signature, it's recognized automatically, with no change to your tagging. |
|
A rare or customized browser |
An in-app browser, a smart TV browser or a niche browser. |
|
A generic or reduced User-Agent |
Some browsers share very little information, and Client Hints can be limited by privacy settings. |
New browsers that behave like bots can be filtered out as bot traffic, so they may not appear under Other browser at all.
What you can do
-
Check what's in the category: break down Other browser by an additional property to see what type of traffic it is, for example the operating system or device type.
-
Identify specific browsers: you can create a processing rule in your Data Model that looks for a specific string in the User-Agent and sets a custom property.
-
Ask for recognition of a browser: if a browser matters to you, send a feature request to Piano Support. Recognition might be added by the detection partner, so Piano Support will pass it on.
