How can I visually QA my system templates?

Piano offers the ability to 'Preview' most templates that live in your template library, including system templates. However, because there are numerous paths a user can take as they proceed through the checkout flow, simply previewing it within the confines of your Piano sandbox dashboard may not be sufficient.

Instead, for previewing system templates as they would look to an end user, we recommend using your staging environment and creating dummy user accounts to QA your flow. Below are a few quick tips for this process:

  • Use a "+" in your email address to create any number of unique email addresses, e.g. john.doe+1@piano.io, john.doe+2@piano.io, etc. Doing so will still use john.doe@piano.io as the parent email account, but they will be treated as unique users within Piano. You can utilize this to sign up multiple 'users' without the need to create multiple email addresses.

  • Use a test credit card number to test a purchase. If your sandbox environment in Piano points to a payment provider's sandbox environment for your integration, you will be able to input credit card numbers that that payment provider has set aside for testing purposes. Each provider has their own set of test cards, which you can find on their sites. As an example, here are the test cards for Braintree and Payway. You can find other provider-specific cards by searching for them online or by reaching out to your support representative from these companies.
